Summer is upon us. This is a time to refresh, recharge and, eventually (sigh), get ready for teaching in the fall. To make things a little easier for you, we have compiled all of the professional learning opportunities that will take place this summer related to EL Education’s Language Arts Curriculum. These offerings range from three-day institutes to self-paced online courses to books you can read on the beach. We hope that among this variety of offerings you will find something that inspires you.

 

Starting Strong (three-day virtual institute)

 

Understand the design behind our award-winning curriculum while building community alongside fellow educators. Familiarize yourself with curriculum materials and plan for a successful launch. This three-day virtual offering is $900 per participant.

  • Introduction to the K-5 Language Arts Curriculum (June 28-30)
  • Introduction to the 6-8, Second Edition Language Arts Curriculum (June 28-30)
  • Leading Implementation, K-8 (June 28-30)
  • Introduction to the K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block (July 7-9)

WePD (90-minute virtual PD)

 

WePD: Race, Bias, and Power: Addressing Sensitive Topics in Curriculum Series

 

How do we set teachers up to be successful when discussing sensitive topics of race, bias, and power in the classroom? The journey to exploring sensitive topics related to EL’s curriculum is adaptive, not technical work. This workshop builds skills for coaching teachers in addressing sensitive topics in classroom instruction and skills in engaging teachers in work that challenges mindsets and beliefs. Participants will learn a clear process to support teachers in addressing sensitive topics within the curriculum with a coach’s lens.

WePD: K-3 Summer Skills

 

Join us for this 90-minute, free webinar to learn how to address unfinished learning in foundational reading skills using the newly created EL Education K-3 Summer Skills materials. K-3 Summer Skills, based on EL Education’s comprehensive language arts curriculum, has been designed for primary students and will address missed reading foundations content.

Online Courses (asynchronous; self-paced)

 

Access expert implementation support when and where you need it, at your own pace. Online courses can supplement coaching or stand alone to guide educators throughout adoption of the curriculum. Each course is developed by EL Education’s curriculum and implementation experts with extensive experience in diverse classrooms. Courses are $100 each and users are granted access for one academic year and are encouraged to utilize the resources and tools included in each course at critical stages of their curriculum implementation.

The Grades K–5 and Grades 6–8 Curriculum Companion books are the obvious choice for teachers and leaders looking for guidance on everything from the principles the curriculum was built upon to annotated close reading lessons.
